Just up the Coast from the Farne Islands and only five minutes drive to Holy Island Causeway - subject to the safe Tide Times - drive across to explore the unique Island. Alternatively St Cuthbert's Way - a 62 mile walk from Melrose, passes through Fenwick and onto Holy Island. Why not try the last leg from Aidanfield and within 25 minutes you could be on the beach then continue the Pilgrim's Route following the poles across the sands to Lindesfarne - again watch out for the safe tide times ! Close at hand Westward is Ford and Etal Estate with it's Nursery Garden, Gallery, Fishing, Working Mill and Replica Stone Age Henge or for a little more recent history why not saok up the atmosphere at nearby Flodden? On a sunny day sit out and enjoy a drink in the beer garden at Northumberland's only Thatched Pub - The Black Bull at Etal. Or book onto a Craft Workshop at the nearby Irving Gallery With easy access from the A1 bike, catch a bus or drive to Aidanfield. |
