Holiday Cottage - Cuthbert's Cottage - Beal, Holy Island Area

A brightly decorated rural semi-detached cottage a mile from Holy Island's tidal causeway. Tide times permitting (see Holy Island Crossing Times ), tread in St Cuthbert's footsteps and follow the last stages of the long distance footpath across to the Island. Sample the unique blend of island life with visits to the Priory,Lindisfarne Castle, Gertrude Jekyll Gardens, Lindisfarne Heritage Centre, The Winery and of course in season the local maize maze and local fresh produce stalls - or just enjoy the miles of golden beaches, spot the local birdlife and listen out for the eerie seal calls around the coast.

On the way back, stop off at the newly completed Barn at Beal, a coffee shop and restaurant with visitor centre, gift shop, marked trails and educational activities - or just enjoy the spectacular views.

Located next to the railway line at Beal, Cuthbert's Cottage has easy access from the A1 and is about half a mile from the local pub/restaurant and petrol station.

Twenty minutes drive away is Bamburgh with the spectacular beaches, Bamburgh Castle and views out to The National Trust's bird sanctuary - The Farne Islands - why not take a trip out to see the islands from Seahouses Harbour (see Billy Shiels Puffin Cruises) - or even charter a boat to drop you back at Holy Island ...

Entrance from rear into well-fitted compact kitchen with pine-clad ceiling, electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, washing machine.

Archway through to separate dining area with table and chairs.

Traditionally furnished spacious sitting room with sofa, chairs, coffee table, wall lights, display units, decorative recessed fireplace, cupboard, TV, video and DVD player and a selection of books to browse. Large tilt window to the front.

Downstairs bathroom with shower over bath, shaver point, WC and wash hand basin.

Holiday Cottage - Upstairs

Upstairs:

Bedroom 1: double bed in pine bedframe, large wardrobe, decorative original cast-iron fireplace, distant sea views towards Goswick Sands.

Bedroom 2: two single beds, views to the rear over patio and farmland, built-in wardrobe,decorative original cast-iron fireplace.

Bedroom 3: single bed, free standing wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Oil-fired central heating throughout.

Heating, electricity and bed linen included. Regret towels are not included.

The spacious enclosed south-facing patio garden which is usually stocked with well-tended pot plants and garden furniture allows train spotting from the garden

Washing line, BBQ, bucket and spade also available.

Cot and high chair on request. Private parking for two cars.
