A traditionally furnished single storey detached farm cottage, with large grassed garden, on one of The Duke of Northumberland's tenanted farms. The cottage is beside a quiet country lane, only 4 miles from Bamburgh and 3 miles to the coast at Seahouses. The cottage lies within 30 minutes of the magnificent island of Lindisfarne, Budle Bay Nature Reserve and the Farne Islands, which can be reached by boat from Seahouses. This memorable outing offers a chance to see the seal colonies, landing on Inner Farne and sightings of hundreds of seabirds (be warned to wear a hat in nesting season!). Also in Seahouses is the opportunity to enjoy the popular golf links course or Slatehall Riding Centre for treks out or lessons in the school. Alnwick is the nearest market town only 20 minutes away with its famous gardens, castle, filming location for the Harry Potter movies. Alnwick's other attractions include Barter Books - a huge second hand bookshop in the old railway station buildings, museum and variety of cultural fairs throughout the season. Tour of the farm available on request. Use of grass tennis court by arrangement with the owner - racquets and balls provided. Dogs can be exercised in the fields to the rear of the property - accessed by wooden style over the wall. Stabling for horse or pony can be arranged. Shepherd's Cottage welcomes short breaks in Low Season. B&B is available in the farmhouse for additional guests. |
