     The sound of silence! A delightful cottage set in a tranquil country setting. The cottage is full of character and enjoys views in all directions, over farmland, northwards toward the Cheviot Hills and southwards towards Thrunton Woods. This cared-for cottage is spacious but cosy and provides an ideal base to relax for the day or from which to explore. Rothlea is only 10 minutes drive from Alnwick, home to the Duke of Northumberland, visit Alnwick Castle, Alnwick Garden, Museum and the famous Barter Books second hand bookshop. Rothbury, with small local shops and lovely views is only quarter of an hour away - drive past The National Trust's Cragside House and Gardens along the way. The coast and Cheviot Hills are within 20 minutes or perhaps you'd prefer to enjoy walking from the property up to Thrunton Woods or an hour's circular walk around the village. Holiday Cottage - Downstairs Steps down to the glazed entrance porch. Solid oak door leads to a compact hall which has oak desk, telephone, information folders, maps, guides etc. Glazed door through to the kitchen. The large open-plan sitting room has beamed ceilings, log burning stove in a huge stone fireplace, sofas, 37in flatscreen digital TV, DVD player and DVDs, video and a selection of videos. There is a snug area behind the fireplace and views to countryside. Down two steps to the hall with access to a shower room, with airing cupboard, heated towel rail, wash hand basin and WC and views over the fields. A fully fitted kitchen/diner with beamed ceiling, electric cooker, ceramic hob, washing machine and walk-in pantry with microwave and fridge/freezer. Views over fields towards the hills behind Alnwick. There is a rear porch with glazed door, spare seating and shoe rack. Step down to an enclosed shared yard with open views, a bird table and a garden bench - ideal for a cup of morning coffee in the sun.
