A jewel in North Northumberland's Crown! Goldcrest Cottage is situated in the small village of Fenwick, a peaceful haven yet has easy access to all amenities and the coast. Originally part of the Duke of Northumberland's Estate, the cottage has been extended and refurbished to a very high standard with good quality furniture, providing a quality holiday retreat. A five minute drive takes you to the Holy Island causeway which you can drive across, subject to safe crossing times, to sample the unique quality of the Island and visit Lindisfarne Castle, the Winery, Lindisfarne Priory and Gertrude Jekyll Garden. Drive fifteen minutes to the north to visit historic Berwick-upon-Tweed with its famous bridges, castle walls and ramparts. Alternatively, fifteen minutes to the south is Bamburgh Castle and its truly spectacular beach, where you could sample one of the coastal walks, try out their outstanding links golf course or relax in the village pubs and cafes. There are numerous visitor attractions within a 30 minute drive of Goldcrest Cottage and a trip to Northumberland would not be complete without visiting the market town of Alnwick with the historic Alnwick Castle and the beautiful Alnwick Garden. At the end of each daysightseeing, return to Goldcrest Cottage to relax in the garden and, weather permitting, enjoy a BBQ, away from noise, traffic and the hectic pace of modern life. Holiday Cottage - DownstairsTwo steps from the small front garden takes you into the large, well-equipped sitting room with two sofas, large coffee table, Freeview TV, DVD, Broadband connection, selection of games and books and, for inclement weather, the ultimate luxury of a wood burning stove. Holiday Cottage - UpstairsStairs to a small landing with window. On your right is bedroom 2: a large room with twin beds, bedside tables, fitted cupboard, wardrobe and radiator, window with views to rear garden and the sea - a velux window also makes this room very light. There is an en-suite with wash hand basin, WC and a radiator. Across the landing to bedroom 3: another extremely light, large, comfortable room with king size bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers and a wardrobe. Radiator and views to rear garden and again to the sea and the northern shores of Holy Island. Holiday Cottage - Facilities and OutsideThere is a small private garden to the front of the property. At the rear, parking for two cars and garden with lawn and mature shrubbery, garden furniture and BBQ housed in the accessible large garage. An unusual addition to the exterior is an old pigsty which obviously is not now in use, but it is fully safe, clean and ready for exploration!
