Holiday Cottage - Sweet Meadows - Longhorsley

This spectacular 5* detached single storey property, completed in Summer 2010, has received a 2011 Visit England Gold Award for exceptional quality of accommodation. The cottage has wonderful views from fantastic large windows, large and private garden, wood-burning stove, Aga, underfloor heating and every possible convenience, is just right for spending time on oneself and family.

It is possible you may not want to venture forth, but it would be worth the effort as Sweet Meadows is set in a very convenient location for exploring the whole of Northumberland. Longhorsley is a large village with shop, church, restaurants and pubs.

The small town of Rothbury, home to the National Trust property of Cragside with its wonderful gardens, and the National Park are virtually on its doorstep. A short journey takes you to Morpeth, a historic market town, or you may perhaps spend some time discovering the many local walks. You may even decide to visit one or two excellent golf courses near at hand!

Holiday Cottage - Downstairs

Two small steps take you to a glazed back door leading into an enormous double-height open-plan kitchen/sitting/dining room with wood floor and rugs. The fully fitted kitchen area has a large expanse of work surface including a large island, larger fridge, freezer, electric hob, brand new Aga, microwave and dishwasher.

The kitchen area lead onto an extremely pleasant sitting area with console tables, ample chairs and sofas, coffee table, bookcase/cabinet and a large wood-burning stove set in a brick fireplace. There is wall-mounted plasma TV as well as DVD and CD players, PlayStation and WiFi. Games, books and CDs abound.

The dining area has a large dining table and chairs placed next to floor-to-ceiling window, looking out over wonderful countryside and there are glazed doors at each end of the room giving access to the large terrace and garden. This large room has all you could wish for in the way of lamps, pictures and occasional tables.

A glazed door leads from the kitchen/sitting/dining room into a large hall with tiled floor, boot and hat rack, console table and French windows onto the terrace.

 

Holiday Cottage - Ground Floor Bedrooms

Bedroom 1: is a spacious room with a double bed, drawers, wardrobe, chair, wall-mounted plasma flatscreen TV and views to the garden.

Bedroom 2: also has a double bed, drawers, wardrobe and chair, wall-mounted plasma flatscreen TV and views to the garden.

Bedroom 3: is a large room with a king-size bed, drawers, bedside tables, wardrobe, wall-mounted plasma flatscreen TV and a French door leading to the terrace. There is an en-suite 'Jack and Jill' spacious shower room with cubicle shower, wash hand basin, WC, heated towel rail, shaver point, tiled floor and access through the other door into the hallway.

All the bedrooms are fully carpeted.

The large family bathroom has a bath, shower cubicle, wash hand basin, WC, shaver point, heated towel rail and a tiled floor.

Additionally there is boiler/storage cupboard off the hallway storing the iron, ironing board etc.

Holiday Cottage - Facilities and Outside

Oil under floor central heating, initial supply of fuel for wood-burning stove, linen and towels included.

A cot and highchair are available on request.

To the rear of the cottage is a large lawned garden with table/and chairs as well as a garden bench. There is also a spacious and unique summerhouse with veranda, housing the washer, dryer and all the laundry facilities.

To the front of the cottage is a very large terrace with table and chairs.
