A recently converted detached barn with easy access from the A1 on the edge of the hamlet of North Charlton, which has received a Visit Britain Gold Award for exceptional quality of accommodation. Beamed ceilings, spacious kitchen area with granite work surfaces, multi feature range cooker, stripped barn doors and solid wood floor all add to the design of this cottage. Two ground floor bedrooms both with en-suite facilities or up the wooden stairs to a third low ceiling bedroom and family bathroom.

Large enclosed garden with summerhouse. Although the A1 is close at hand the garden gives uninterrupted views over farmland and grazing paddocks. Only seven miles from Alnwick, home to the Duke of Northumberland, visit Alnwick Castle, the Alnwick Garden, Museum and the famous Barter Books second hand bookshop.

The Reading Rooms is ideally situated for coast or country with numerous castles and beaches, all within easy reach. Five minutes drive away is the Packhorse Inn at Ellingham, a popular country style pub serving food and a welcoming atmosphere!

Holiday Cottage - Accommodation

Tarmac drive and flagged paving lead to level access through the front door and into a utility room with solid wooden floor, Belfast sink, washing machine, microwave, coat hanging and boiler cupboard.

Go through a stripped stable door into the living/dining/kitchen area which has a beamed ceiling, chandelier lighting, wooden floor, leather Chesterfield sofas and wing chair, dining table and chairs and oil-fired stove.

There is a digital TV with DVD player (Freeview is available on all TVs).

The kitchen area has granite work surfaces, multi-feature Rangemaster electric cooker, induction hob, hotplate and griddle, Belfast sink, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

A stable door opens out to the grassed garden with patio area, summerhouse and outside seating.

Bedroom 1: large room with either twin or king-size bed, wall of wardrobes, wall-mounted flatscreen TV, door to front of cottage, en-suite wet room large enough to enable wheelchair access to overhead and hand-held shower and WC, wash hand basin, heated towel rail, electric hand dryer, emergency pull-cord indicator, shaver point.

Bedroom 2: smaller room with pine double bed and matching furniture, digital TV, wardrobe, small en-suite shower room with WC and wash hand basin, views to the front.

Upstairs: Triple bedroom built into the eaves with sloping ceilings, velux windows and three 2' 6" beds, selection of children's books to enjoy, digital TV.

Family bathroom with hand shower over corner bath, heated towel rail, wash hand basin and WC, Velux window overlooking the garden.

Ample driveway parking.

Although children are welcome regret beach towels, cot, and stairs gate are not available.

Bike, boat or caravan storage available on request.

For holidaymakers with reduced mobility, the owner can organise the hire of a hoist.

Please note this property has a Friday changeover day.

Dogs are welcome at the property (2 dogs maximum).
