At Northumberland Cottages Ltd, we take the privacy of our holidaymakers and owners seriously and are committed to protecting your privacy online.

Our aim is to safeguard our users' privacy whilst providing a personalised and valuable service. Collecting personal information is necessary if we are to satisfy the expectations and requirements of our users. We appreciate that you do not want the personal information you provide to us distributed indiscriminately to other parties - here we explain how we collect information, what we do with it and what controls you have.

We collect two kinds of information about our users: a. non-personal information such as cottage selected, dates of preferred holiday, where you first heard about our company etc. This information doesn't tell us about who you are or where you live, it simply allows us to deliver our services to you and improve our service. b. personal information such as name, postal address, telephone number, e-mail address, card or bank details etc. We collect this information only in connection with specific requests or cottage bookings activities. The information is needed to fulfil your request or to enable us and the cottage owners to provide you with a personalised service.

You don't have to disclose any of this information to browse our websites, however, if you do choose to withhold requested information, we may not be able to provide you with certain services.

Any personal data relating to you will be used and recorded by us in accordance with current data protection legislation and this Privacy Policy. We will use the information you provide to: - fulfil your requests and process sales transactions, - record any contact we have with you; - we may at times share these details with the cottage owners, - provide you with information which we think may be of interest to you, as explained below. As well as using personal information to fulfil immediate requests, we do keep contact names and addresses in electronic format to help ensure efficient future service and where indicated to advise you of current brochure offers. We do not store card payment details electronically.

We may use other companies/individuals to provide services on our behalf, including online booking requests, packaging and mailing and secure processing of credit card payments. We will only provide them with the information they need to deliver the service and they are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose. We require them to treat your personal information as fully confidential and to fully comply with all applicable UK Data Protection and consumer legislation.

We may disclose personal information if we receive a complaint about you or about any content you have posted or transmitted to or from one of our websites, if required to do so by law or if we believe that such action is necessary to protect and defend the rights, property or personal safety of Northumberland Cottages Ltd, its staff, owners, cottages or holidaymakers.

Except as indicated above we will not use or transfer this data to any third parties without your prior permission. We place great importance on the security of all personally identifiable information associated with our customers and users. Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorized personnel have access to user information. We use secure server software SSL to encrypt financial information you input before it is sent to us, and our database is hosted in a secure site. Whilst we cannot ensure or guarantee that loss, misuse or alteration of data will not occur, we use our best efforts to prevent this.
